Back in the PlayStation 2 days the Ratchet & Clank series snuck in as one of the system's most popular titles. Since then it has had multiple sequels and continued on its legacy on more recent PlayStation consoles. This is why it only made sense for there to be an animated series about the game, and Rainmaker Entertainment Inc, Blockade Entertainment and CNHK Media have delivered just that. At some point in 2015 we'll be seeing a Ratchet & Clank film starring Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Rosario Dawson and Sylvester Stallone.

Giamatti will be playing Chairman Drek, Goodman will be Grimroth, Dawson is Elaris, Stallone is Victor and Bella Thorne will take on the role of Cora. The voice stars of the video game series will, of course, be reprising their roles as James Arnold Taylor will be Ratchet and David Kaye will play Clank.

Armin Shimerman will also be returning as Nefarious and Jim Ward will play Captain Qwark.

Rainmaker Entertainment CEO Michael Hefferon made the big announcement this week:

"The collaborative relationship between Rainmaker Entertainment, Sony PlayStation, Insomniac Games and all our partners has helped us to bring this massive game franchise to the big screen," Hefferon said. "Our outstanding celebrity talent together with the original voices from the game really bring these characters to life, and we are confident that Ratchet & Clank will delight fans with its authenticity and charm, while families everywhere will find a new family-friendly buddy duo to love."

The movie is going to be directed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles director Kevin Munroe and co-directed by Jerrica Cleland. The screenplay was written by Insomniac Games writer TJ Fixman.

The worldwide release has yet to be announced but a screening for international distributors will take place in the Marchè du Film in Cannes.
