Actor Frankie Muniz celebrates his 27th birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 5 - and how did the "Malcolm in the Middle" star kickoff b-day festivities? By tweeting about the scary stroke he experienced which placed him in a hospital bed on Friday, Nov. 30! Apparently Muniz's upcoming birthday is just another sign that he's getting old and better start taking better care of his body. Reports confirm that Muniz was transported to an Arizona hospital on Friday after friends noticed that he was beginning to act "really weird." It was later discovered that the Kingsfoil drummer had experienced a transient ischemic attack (more commonly known as a mini-stroke).

Muniz sent out this message on Twitter on Tuesday - just a day before his 27th birthday:

@frankiemuniz: "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a "Mini Stroke", which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!"

According to a TMZ report, Muniz was promptly transported to an Arizona ER on Friday when a group of friends noticed that he was "acting really weird." The open-wheel racer was apparently having trouble speaking and understanding words, and his pals got pretty freaked out and concerned. Doctors then discovered that Muniz had suffered a "mini-stroke," although the cause of such a health scare still remains unknown.  Supposedly Muniz is still awaiting test results to find out the answer.

Even with his birthday on Wednesday and his band Kingsfoil set to being touring on Friday (Dec. 7), doctors warn Muniz to relax and take things easy for the time being.

The A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia states that a transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) is when "no blood flows to the brain for a moment of time, but it doesn't cause brain tissue death like with a regular stroke." Symptoms may include: vision changes, numbness or paralysis, confusion, feelings unbalanced, experiencing a bad headache, and having trouble speaking.
