A sorority at Penn State in under hot water today after posing and uploading a racist Mexican-themed picture they took at their Halloween party. The sisters are subjected to an investigation after their picture went viral and Penn State University finally releases a statement acknowledging their 'First Amendment rights."

The picture of the girls was taken around Halloween, which is their reason for wearing Mexican ensembles like: a sombrero and a decorated woven poncho. Their clothing may have not ignited such backlash if it weren't for the signs two students were holding up. One sign read:  "Will mow lawn for weed + beer" as well as "I don't cut grass I smoke it."
The President of Nu Gamma chapter of Chi Omega apologized on behalf of her sorority saying,"Our chapter of Chi Omega sincerely apologizes for portraying inappropriate and untrue stereotypes. The picture in question does not support any of Chi Omega's values or reflect what the organization aspires to be."

The University is desperately trying to move on after the embarrassing sex scandal that has former football Assistant Coach, Jerry Sandusky in Jail for life for having sex with minor boys and former head coach Joe Paterno's legacy erased after his death earlier this year. Although, it is embarrassing the University is trying the hardest to quickly kill this scandal before the end of the year.

The director of public information at Penn State, Lisa Powers released a statement on behalf of the University saying,  "The students in the photo are within their First Amendment rights to express themselves in this way ... although we are certainly appalled that they would display this level of insensitivity and lack of judgment," Powers continued, "These costumes and this group do not represent fraternity and sorority life at Penn State, nor the 95,000 students who attend our university. The Chi Omega sorority sisters have expressed deep remorse over this incident."

Should the Sorority be forgiven? What are your thoughts Mstarz readers?
