Honey Boo Boo Named One of 'Most Fascinating People' of 2012 by Barbara Walters: 'DWTS' Diss, Karina Smirnoff Not a Fan [VIDEO]

Alana Thompson (aka Honey Boo Boo Child) made a name for herself as the self-described redneck beauty pageant queen wannabe who took TLC's world of reality television by storm (whether viewers liked it or not). Now TMZ has begun to spread around some rumors that ABC producers should consider signing the infamous 7-year-old up to appear as a contestant on the hit dance reality show "Dancing with the Stars." Although Barbara Walters has just named Honey Boo Boo as one of 2012's "Most Fascinating People," professional Ukrainian ballroom dancer Karina Smirnoff still isn't a fan, and insists that Alana appearing on the show definitely "shouldn't happen."

TMZ recently stopped Smirnoff on her way out of an L.A. nightclub to ask what she thought about the possibility of ABC producers lowering the age minimum on the show so that Honey Boo Boo could appear in an upcoming season. Smirnoff's response - "Honey Boo, who?" The 34-year-old then went on to explain that she didn't think that would be such a good idea. But what about the head of the Thompson clan, Mama June? Smirnoff wasn't a fan of that idea, either - "Um, no, I think we're pretty good with people we have on the show." While some may think Honey Boo Boo doesn't exactly fit the part for "DWTS," popular television personality Barbara Walters still considers young Alana one of the top ten most fascinating people of the year. That's right, Walters revealed on Tuesday (Dec. 5) that Honey Boo Boo made the list among several prestigious figures including Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie, and Gabby Douglas. While some criticized Walters for her including Honey Boo Boo Child in her yearly roundup, the "View" host staunchly defends her choice:

"It's a love story [the bond between Alana and her mother, June]. It's a very sweet, loving story.

A lot of people will say, "For heaven's sake, this is ridiculous, this is a child at 5 or 6 years old entering beauty contests," but the relationship between Alana and her mother -- that's the story, the two of them. It's very touching.

[In addition] Honey Boo Boo is not an obnoxious little girl. She's sweet and loving with her mother and loving with her sisters [Jessica, Lauryn and Anna]. And now Anna has a new baby, and the baby has [three] thumbs -- but so what? It'll make you smile."

Walters full list of the "Most Facisnating People of 2012" will air on her ABC special airs on Dec. 12 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
