It has certainly been a rough couple of months for Grey's Anatomy actor Patrick Demspey. While the star not only is in them midst of a divorce, and getting fired from his TV show, he also has had to deal with rumors and speculation that he had cheated on his wife Jillian Fink. In addition to that, Dempsey also put the house that he shared with Fink on the market. These tumultuous events happening in such a short amount of time could be enough to drive anyone insane. However, it seems like Demspey is doing well, as he was all smiles this weekend while getting the chance to participate in the Indy 500.

Dempsey has always been an avid lover of race car driving, but the star got the chance to be a part of the action over the weekend in Indianapolis.

According to Just Jared, the former star of the ABC medical series headed out to the racetrack, on Saturday, as he got the privilege of waving the green flag, which signals the drivers to start their engines.

Patrick spoke out to People magazine at the event, where they asked him about his love for the sport.

"I definitely love racing," the star told the news site. "I love the camaraderie and the fellowship. I think the challenge is with oneself and not so much your fellow competitors, necessarily."

He also explained that his passion for the sport started when he was a kid, during which time his dad would play the race on radio in the family's station wagon.

The entertainment site also wondered if the Made of Honor actor would be retiring from acting to focus on his passion behind the wheel. Lucky for us the star told the site, "I'm not retiring from acting."
