Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel are two fan favorites to snag the coveted roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' hit erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey." But now some reports are beginning to beg the question - are Bomer and Bledel really too old to star in the steamy trilogy? Rumors have it that film producers may perhaps be looking for a younger duo - considering Grey is supposed to be a young and successful 27-year-old businessman and Steele a youthful 22-year-old recent college graduate. Bomer just celebrated his 35th birthday in October and Bledel turned 31 back in September... so should their older ages really effect "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting decisions? And if so, how does that influence fan favorites and polls?

Such age rumors may turn out to be nothing to worry about, considering actors/actresses in Hollywood commonly play characters that are much younger or older than their actual ages. As long as Bomer and Bledel fit the part both physically and emotionally, the fact that they're both already in their 30s shouldn't be such a detrimental factor. Especially in Bomer's case, considering many other fan favorites for the part of Grey are also quite a bit older... Ian Somerhalder (34), Alexander Skarsgård (36), and even Henry Cavill (who's a little closer to Grey's age at 29).

Bledel might have a little more competition when it comes to the age question, however. Many of her current competitors fit the early twenty-something bill right-on... take, for example, Lucy Hale (23), Emma Watson (22), and Amanda Seyfried (27).

But how does it sound when put like this - by the end of the "Fifty Shades" trilogy, Steele is only supposed to be 25 (Bledel will most likely be in her mid-to-late thirties by the time the final film comes out). As for Bomer - he'll already be in his 40s by the time the series ends. Does that influence any fans' decisions?

In other "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie casting news, reports confirm that Channing Tatum is out for the lead role of Grey and Keira Knightley is no longer in the running for Steele.

Despite age, many fans would love to see Bomer and Bledel co-star in "Fifty Shades of Grey," just check out some of these fan-made movie trailers:

But taking in age as a contributing factor, what do "Fifty Shades of Grey" fans think of Bomer playing Grey and Bledel taking on the role of Steele?
