As one Bachelor/Bachelorette romance is getting underway, it looks like another one is fizzling out. While this season's castoff, yet breakout star, Britt Nilsson is shacking up with contestant Brady Toops, it seems that her former lover Chris Soules, and his bride-to-be Whitney Bischoff, have decided to end their engagement. While rumors of the spilt started to circulate during Soules' time on Dancing With the Stars there was no concrete evidence to say that they were parting ways. However, despite their best efforts to keep the romance alive, it just was too much for the Chicago native and the Iowa farm boy to handle.

According to Radar Online despite the fact that the couple tried their best to keep up appearances, they are no longer together. Soules even took to his Instagram account to post some pictures of Whitney visiting him in his hometown earlier this month, but it doesn't even seem like the hometown visit was enough to keep their love alive.

Creator of the ABC dating show, Mike Fleiss took to his Twitter account to confirm that the duo has called it quits.

"Sad news to report," the creator wrote. "@souleschris and @whitbisch are no longer engaged..."

The former lovebirds have yet to release a statement regarding their breakup.

Radar is also stating that what could have attributed to the split is Chris' sudden obsession with fame. While he has already been on three reality shows, it looks like he is trying to turn his fifteen minutes of fame into something a little more long lasting.

"His ego has grown out of control, and he now has a publicist, and manager!" an insider told Radar. "He would love to become known as a host for big events."
