For a while it looked as if the Silent Hill franchise was dead in the water. As of late rumors have been going around that Microsoft has been in talks to buy it off of Konami and revive it as an Xbox exclusive. The newest game, Silent Hills, was set to star Walking Dead's Norman Reedus but it seems like this was all just rumor and speculation; the game is still indeed dead.

A representative for Konami said that the company is trying hard to work through some recent changes in the company and this is why the rumor started.

"We are aware that the conjecture surrounding our recent changes has prompted a great deal of anxiety, for which we apologies," a Konami representative told IGN. The Metal Gear and Silent Hill series, both beloved by countless fans around the globe, are also extremely important to Konami. We have nurtured them with care over many years since their inception, and will continue to produce products for both franchises, but we are not currently at a stage where we can announce the path these future titles will take."

Not only was Reedus attached to the project but Director Guillermo Del Torro was set to be its director. With such big names around it fans created a petition to get Torro and the game's designer Hideo Kojima on board. That petition gained more than 150,000 signatures.

In recent interviews Del Torro spoke highly of the game. Still, it remains to be seen whether we'll be able to play it or not.

"What we wanted to do with the game – and we were very much in agreement on this – was to take the technology and make it as cutting-edge as we could in creating terror in the house. The idea was very, very atmosphere-drenched," Del Toro told IGN.
