Pop rocker Avril Lavigne's version of Nickelback's 2001 hit "How You Remind Me", is available online Dec. 11. This was inevitable given Lavigne's engagement with the Nickelback's lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, Aug. 22.

Lavigne's version of the song is a slow, piano ballad and has a gloomy vibe. This was created as a soundtrack for a Japanese animation movie "One Piece Film: Z." She is also working on a second cover for Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" for the project, MTV News reported.

"This is not a single release ... Avril is currently hard at work on her upcoming studio album," confirmed her spokesperson. Though there is no news on the release of her studio album, reports from MTV News suggest that the album which is still untitled is in the mixing stage and is expected to be released soon. "I'd like to get it out this year, but time seems to be flying. If we don't, it will be top of the new year," said L.A. Reid, Head of Epic.

Lavigne is reportedly working with her fiancé Kroeger on the album.

Nickelback's "How You Remind Me" that was released in 2001 became the band's breakthrough hit around the world. The song was a number one hit both on the pop and rock charts. The song was listed by Billboard as #4 song on the Hot 100 for the decade. The song was nominated for Gramm Award for Record of the Year.
