Jenni Rivera Plane Crash UPDATE: Gory Images of Singer's Remains Go Viral, Policemen Arrested for Stealing from Mexico Crash Site [VIDEO]

Mexican-American songstress Jenni Rivera died in a tragic plane crash over the rugged hills of the Nuevo Leon state in northern Mexico on Sunday, Dec. 9. While the singer's remains have been positively identified and returned to southern California, reports have it that Rivera's family is completely outraged that leaked footage from the crash scene (which includes a gruesome image of the star's severed foot) has gone viral on the web. Mexico officials also confirm that two state police officers were recently arrested on suspicion of stealing unspecified items from the crash scene - while the leaked video footage has yet to be proved authentic, Rivera's family is doing the best they can to make sure all the images are removed entirely from the web.

The Nuevo Leon state government reports that authorities arrested a 23-year-old officer after he was found taking photos of the grisly scene with his Smartphone. Such images, including those of body parts and personal documents, have since leaked on the web. One graphic image shows Rivera's mangled severed foot with painted red toenails. Another responding officer was arrested for allegedly stealing unspecified items from the crash scene.

According to TMZ, the severed foot was the most painful part for the family to see spread all over the internet because "Jenni was very particular about her feet and toes." The Rivera family is completely appalled that someone would leak such personal images on the web - especially a responding officer.

43-year-old Rivera and six other passengers died Sunday morning (Dec. 9) when the LearJet 25 they were flying on from Monterey to Toluca crashed in the mountains of northern Mexico. Officials say that the jet nosedived to the ground from 28,000 feet at speeds over 600 mph. Authorities have yet to determine a specific cause for the crash, although the plane did have a 2005 fuel system malfunction on its record.

The company which owned the LearJet, Starwood Management, is currently under investigation by the DEA. Read more on that here. An executive at Starwood Management, Christian E. Esquino Nunez, insists that the Learjet 25 was perfectly maintained - he believes that the 78-year-old pilot suffered a heart attack or was somehow incapacitated at the time of the crash.

Rivera, popularly known as the Diva of the Banda, was a Long Beach, CA native and the mother of five children. The Billboard Mexican Music Awards winner is also an avid actress and businesswoman, appearing in the hit reality shows "I Love Jenni," "Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C" and "Chiquis 'n Control" as well as the popular film "Filly Brown." Reports have it that she was planning to buy the LearJet before its fatal crash.

Friends, family, and fans gathered outside the Long Beach Airport late Thursday evening (Dec. 13) to await the arrival of the recovered remains of the songstress.
