Niall Horan Talks Christmas Traditions: One Direction Band Mates Hassle Harry Styles for Buying Taylor Swift Lavish, Romantic Gifts

The boys of One Direction are preparing for the Christmas holiday - for Niall Horan that means returning home to Ireland and stuffing his face with food until he feels sick... and the 1D heartthrob doesn't plan on breaking that tradition anytime soon. As for Harry Styles, the festive holiday means investing in lavish birthday gifts for his current sweetheart Taylor Swift... and getting teased and hassled by his band mates because of it. Hey, tis' the season to be merry!

In a recent interview with the Irish Sun, 19-year-old Horan indulged in details about his favorite Christmas family traditions: "I've never been away from home for Christmas and I don't think I ever will be... I will be back in Ireland again this year - and I'll be eating until I feel sick! We have little traditions like going to the pub on Christmas Eve and watching telly all day. It will be the same as always and that's what I love about it."

And according to Horan's father Bobby, once Niall walks through the doors for the holidays, he is no longer the "famous boy band hot shot" - he is merely a guy happy to be back home with friends and family. How sweet!

"I might want to ask a lot of questions about what is going on in the band - but Niall just wants to be himself when he gets home... We talk about soccer and everything else like we always have when he gets home... He has the same friends he will call down to. He is just our Niall once he gets back - that really shows the lovely fella that he is."

An inside source reveals that while safety for the 1D boys is top-priority, Horan will definitely be able to spend some quiet, quality time at home with family for the holidays. "The band's management are sticklers for security and the boys have at least one minder with them wherever they go," the source explains. "It is hoped that when they go home for Christmas this can be relaxed but no one wants to take any chances."

Meanwhile, Horan and the rest of the 1D crew (Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Mali) are pretty shocked by how fast 18-year-old Harry Styles has fallen for the pop-country songstress Taylor Swift. Apparently after the duo jetted off from NYC to the U.K. in Swift's private jet last week, Styles treated his new lady friend to a lavish and romantic 23rd birthday at England's beautiful Lake District. Reports have it that he booked a number of stunning venues for their short stay, and dished out money for a number of luxurious gifts including a £400 (approximately $650) Jimmy Choo handbag, a gorgeous pair of antique earrings, a large bottle of her favorite perfume, and 23 yummy, custom-made cupcakes. Swift's b-day was on Thursday, Dec. 13.

According to an inside source for the Sun, Styles' band mates couldn't help but to poke a little fun at him for having "fallen so hard so fast" - "Harry put a lot of thought into her gifts and really wanted to show her just how special she is to him... The boys teased him about how mushy he's become but he doesn't seem to care."

Haylor spent some romantic time in England's countryside (in-between One Direction's rehearsing for the "X-Factor") before Swift jetted off to Germany. According to Sarah Walker, who met the couple when they ate at her pub the Hope Valley, Swift is excited to get back to the U.S.A. for Christmas - "Taylor said she was loving being in Britain and she also seemed to like being in the country. And she was excited about her birthday and about flying home for Christmas. She said she didn't mind the cold, but it will be a lot warmer in Nashville. They were both lovely and she's a honey."
