Bette Midler Rumors About "Glee" Role; Actress "Still Waiting" for Guest Star Confirmation

After rumors spread about Bette Midler possibly making an appearance on "Glee", the legendary singer said she is "still waiting" for her invitation.

The 67-year-old actress spoke to "Access Hollywood" on Friday and said that the co-creator of the hit singing show, Ryan Murphy, has not contacted her yet.

"[Ryan Murphy] never called me," Midler told the Hollywood news show about the possibility of a "Glee" role. "He mentioned it, but ... I'm still waiting for the call. But, it's fine!"

Murphy first talked to the singer and actress about coming on the show in October, according to the Huffington Post. The two met and briefly discussed the appearance at the God's Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in the fall.

"Ryan was also honored that night and he said [in his speech], 'If Bette Midler's in the house I want to invite her onto 'Glee,'" she told "Access Hollywood" last week. "And I went, 'OK!'"

Murphy took to Twitter in Oct. saying: "Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting...who should she play?"

So what role would Midler play on Fox's hit show?

Midler tweeted her suggestion for a guest role saying, "I have one vote for Rachel's grandmother."

Murphy has talked to other top stars about making appearances.

Actress Anne Hathaway was confirmed last January to appear as a guest on the show after she talked with Murphy at the 2011 Golden Globes.

However, she has yet to appear on the show and hasn't talked to the "Glee" creator since about the role.

"And I never heard from him again," she told Pop Sugar in August 2011. "Ryan Murphy, I'm calling you out: I want to be on 'Glee.' I've got my songs picked out."
