Over the weekend, a new season of BEING was aired on Centric. MStars News has learned that singer K. Michelle opened up in the documentary to talk about some things that she's never revealed to fans until now. In her episode of BEING, Michelle revealed that one of the biggest misconceptions was that she was "ghetto."

Growing up in Memphis, TN this singer was far from "ghetto," and was raised to be whatever she wanted to be in life.

Michelle said: "Being K. Michelle is being very transparent, passionate and motivational. Just being able to penetrate the hearts of a lot of women that have been through some of the same issues as me."

She continues, "The biggest misconception of K. Michelle is that I'm mean and angry, and...ghetto. Whatever we define as ghetto in our time....but I'd probably be the complete opposite of what most think about me."

As she takes a journey to her hometown of Memphis, TN, K. Michelle explains: "I do a lot of reality so people think they know a lot about my life. Well one thing that has never been touched is the city where I'm from and my family. I've been very protective of that."

She adds, "Every time I come to Memphis I definitely have to see the people who love Kimberly and don't really know K. Michelle. My family was really big on me being an entertainer. Wether I wanted to be a swimmer, or if I wanted to be a dancer, singer...whatever, go to the moon."

Kim's mother said: "Kimberly always knew what she wanted to do. Rather than playing with dolls, Kimberly always wanted some kind of music."

Her father added, "She seemed to be her best when she was singing. It gave her an essence of her greatness.

"Whatever she could do to be in the spotlight she took it," her mother added.

K. said: "When I got to Florida A&M I immediately won Ms. Freshman, and I pledged Delta [Sigma Theta]."

As she continued to talk about her college days, K. claims that "if you win Ms. Freshman, they normally win Ms. Florida A&M University."

"What happen was my friend decided that she wanted to run for Ms. FAMU when it [was] my year, so you have two Deltas running and the organization says to me, 'We're going to let her run for Ms. Florida A&M University."'

The singer with her blunt attitude admitted that she told her sorority, "I don't need y'all to support me when I run for Ms. FAMU, I'm going to run too."

K. ended up winning without the support of her organization. She claims that she "had the support of other people, just like her music career."

"I am not the favorite and the most political driven artist, but the people are the ones who always pull me through, and buy my albums or go make that vote for me," she said. "So being Ms. Florida A&M University was a victory for me, but it was quick because after I won, I found out that I was pregnant."

Watch an all new BEING, Saturdays at 10P/9C.
