The popular rock band Metallica is all geared up to host their own music festival in 2013.

The metal band will be hosting Orion Music + More festival that has been pushed East Coast to Midwest. It will be held in the Motor City - Detroit, June 8-9, 2013.

The first annual Orion Music + More event was held in New Jersey in June 2013. Metallica had performed 1984's 'Ride The Lightning' and 1991's 'Metallica' in full both the nights. The festival had also featured acts by Eric Church, Modest Mouse, Best Coast, Avenged Sevenfold and Arctic Monkeys.

"I don't walk around and think they're all Metallica fans, I think they're all festival fans, music fans, people out for the experience. I hope our fans are going to be open and supportive of everybody that's here, and if they're not, I'm going to find them and kick their ass," said Lars Ulrich, Metallica's drummer, Rolling Stone reported.

The heavy metal band is working on their new album. This will be a follow-up to their last album in 2008, "Death Magnetic." The new album is scheduled for a 2014 release.

"The stuff that we were banging out yesterday, it felt heavy, it felt energetic, it was loud, it was fast, it was rocking, it was crazy... The snare drum was on there and there were guitar solos, in case anybody was wondering," said Ulrich regarding the new project.

In 2013, the band will be performing at the five-date Soundwave Festival in Australia, two shows in South Africa and the Rock in Rio festival in September.
