In a rarity of sorts, a Swedish heavy metal fan has landed up with state disability benefits as he is "addicted" to heavy metal.
Roger Tullgren, 42, has declared his addiction to heavy metal and is unable to hold his job on account of him frequently attending heavy metal concerts. This year alone he attended more than 300 metal gigs, Global Post reported.
Tullgren, who has tattoos all over him, works as a dishwasher at a restaurant in Hassleholm. He consulted three psychologists to get them to testify his addiction and dependency on heavy metal music.
"I have been trying for 10 years to get this classified as a handicap," he told Swedish newspaper The Local. "I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against."
The headbanger is lucky to have a new boss who has agreed to let him attend gigs. He has even let him listen to metal when he is working provided it does not disturb the guests and wears what he wants.
"I signed a form saying: 'Roger feels compelled to show his heavy metal style. This puts him in a difficult situation on the labor market. Therefore he needs extra financial help'. So now I can turn up at a job interview dressed in my normal clothes and just hand the interviewers this piece of paper," said Tullgren.
He revealed that he was hooked to metal from the tender age of two, when his brother made him listen to a Black Sabbath album.
