"Vampire Diaries" heartthrob Ian Somerhalder has been a longtime fan favorite to snag the coveted role of Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' hit erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," and rumors have it that the 34-year-old actor may actually be preparing for the part! Several gossip tabloids confirm that the recent trailer released by the former "Lost" hottie in promotion of his latest acting project - a compilation of six short films entitled "Time Framed" - could most definitely be used as a "Fifty Shades" screen test (aka, future audition tape). According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder's performance in the screen test allegedly proves "that he sure can play a character as aloof and in control as Mr. Grey."
Little is known about "Time Framed" other than the fact that it's a series of six short films where Somerhalder stars as Agent Black, a gun-for-hire secret operative. The 58-second teaser features Somerhalder as a sexy, mysterious, suave bad-boy... very reminiscent of Anastasia Steele's steamy love interest, Christian Grey. According to recent gossip reports, if Somerhalder wishes to use this short trailer as a "Fifty Shades" screen test/audition tape, it would really up the casting call ante. Check it out:
James and producers have yet to make any official casting decisions (and it looks like it'll be quite some time before they ever do), but do fans think Somerhalder's "Time Framed" teaser makes for a great Christian Grey screen test? Somerhalder currently reigns supreme in many fan-favorite casting polls, but Hollywood heartthrobs including Matt Bomer, Stephen Amell, and Henry Cavill are hot on his heels. In other Somerhalder and "Fifty Shades" related news... the CW star took some time out of his busy Hollywood schedule to spend the holidays in the mountains with his beautiful costar-turned-girlfriend, Nina Dobrev. Apparently the 23-year-old Canadian actress finds her main man totally hot and thinks that he'd make the perfect Christian Grey. Not to mention Dobrev's name has been thrown around to star as Grey's sexual sidekick Anastasia Steele! Would fans like to see both Somerhalder and Dobrev trade-in their vampire personas to get down-and-dirty together on the big screen?
