In movie land, Jake Lloyd is best known as the pod-racing child from Star Wars: Phantom Menace. With the new Star Wars movies coming out, Lloyd probably won't be involved but these days, he hasn't shied too far from his pod racing roots. Last week, the former child star was involved in a high-speed police chase up and down South Carolina roads. A Colleton County Sheriff was able to ID Lloyd after confirming with a talent agent that this was indeed Anakin Skywalker from the one Star Wars movie.

After police caught him, Lloyd told the officer his name was Jake Broadbent. That was the only lie he fed officers though. Both his birthdate and hometown matched when he was born and where he was actually from.

Sheriff Sergeant Kyle Strickland said Lloyd was charged with reckless driving after reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. The only reason he was even caught was because he crashed into trees on Interstate 95. Lloyd was kept in jail through the weekend. Not even his championship-winning pod-racing ways could get him out of this.

The last time we saw Lloyd in a movie was back in 2005 when he starred alongside Jim Caviezel in the powerboat-racing movie, Madison. In that movie, he played Mike McCormick, son of Caviezel's character, Jim McCormick.

After that, he's had minimal appearances. There was a TV series documentary called Prophets of Science Fiction that he was interviewed for and he also served as a production assistant for a short film titled Peer Pressure. There has been nothing as big as Anakin Skywalker though.

Do you think if Jake Lloyd would have continued pod racing after the Phantom Menace he would have eventually gotten away from police?
