'Smash' Cancelled TV Show Musical 'Bombshell' Gets New Life on Broadway?

Even though the NBC musical TV series Smash was cancelled about two years ago, it looks like the musical production in the show, Bombshell, could be getting a revival on Broadway! After a charity performance of the musical featuring cast members Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty and more went over quite well earlier this year, it looks like we could actually get to see this musical in a very real production run! According to reports, the musical isn't really set in stone nor are any cast members or writers confirmed for the project, but it looks like it's at least in development at this moment (via Jezebel).

"There is a still a lot of love for Smash and a rabid fan base out there, and we're thrilled to be able to keep the dream alive as we work towards bringing Bombshell to theatre audiences," NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Smash was ambitious because every episode was a complicated musical for television and we also built the foundation of the musical-within-the-musical about Marilyn's endlessly fascinating and tumultuous life. Over the course of two seasons an entire Bombshell score was written to service Smash storylines, and now that show will have a chance to stand on its own."

Bombshell is a musical focused on the life of Marilyn Monroe, which clearly has its own draw for audiences.
