'Suits' Season 5 Recap: Episode 1: 'Denial': Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams Premiere!

The Season 4 finale of Suits ended on USA Network with a major cliffhanger. During the Season 5 premiere of Suits, in episode 1, are Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) in a state of "Denial" from the fallout from Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty)?

Harvey and Jessica (Gina Torres) walk into an empty meeting, arriving late. Their client just lost his company because of their lateness. It was all a dream because of Harvey's sleepless night. Harvey needs a prescription from his therapist (Christina Cole) because he needs to sleep. 

Six weeks earlier, Rachel (Meghan Markle) is staring at her engagement ring. She wants to keep the news secret, which is okay with Mike. She only wants to tell Donna right now about the wedding news.

Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) just hears the news Donna is working for him. Knowing Harvey will steal Donna back, Louis wants her to go back to him because he doesn't want to get hurt. Donna walks into Harvey's office and hands in her resignation. 

Wanting to get back at her, Harvey hurts Donna's feelings for abandoning him. In the bathroom, Jessica tells Harvey he's late to his meeting with the client. Making a cool bluff, Harvey convinces his client, Kevin, to stick with him. The two shake hands as they agree to make business.

Donna tells Rachel what happened between her and Harvey. Rachel didn't even get a chance to tell her about the wedding news. Mike tells Harvey about the engagement news but he doesn't care. Unable to pick up the phone, Rachel takes the message for Harvey. 

In the present, Harvey is in the middle of an argument with his therapist. She knows he's hiding stuff from him. Harvey had a panic attack and he's afraid it's going to happen again. 

Rachel wants Mike to cut Harvey some slack, revealing the news. He reminds Rachel dinging Donna's job for him is another things. Donna shows up at Louis' lunch, presents him the business card, and gets him excited about going back to work.

Mike has a plan that is legal and could work in Harvey's favor. They manage to bluff their way through their conversation with Vince (Jere Burns) to buy off the debt. Harvey and Mike joke around before their conversation turns to Donna. Mike only manages to make things worse. 

Back at their home, Mike has made dinner for Rachel. She didn't take her test because she stayed late and helped Harvey. The two kiss even though mike doesn't approve. Louis brought a flower to Donna but she arrived early.

At Donna's old printer, Louis confronts Harvey and gives back the can opener. Louis is afraid he's going to lose Donna. Harvey screwed up the paperwork and needs to get back in the game. If Harvey can't get his things together without Donna, Jessica will have to get involved.

Louis starts an argument with Donna while Harvey figures out Rachel screwed up the papers. Before he yells at Rachel, Mike reminds Harvey he has to swallow his pride and get a new secretary. 

Harvey asks for Donna's help but she rejects him. She knows Harvey tried to hurt Louis and feed his nightmare. And then, Harvey had his panic attack.

Harvey reveals he couldn't breathe, went into the bathroom, and threw up. He lied to his therapist because he has been taking anxiety pills. Donna and Louis make peace, with the intention of making a ritual after they win their first case.

Jessica apologizes to Harvey for not understanding. She wants to know if she should undo Louis and Donna. Harvey is sure Donna will come back.

The therapist has Harvey pills to last him for a week, making sure he returns. His panic attacks will continue if he accepts Donna is not coming back. Harvey and Mike get back to work. 

Harvey tells Mike the mistake was his. Donna brought Louisthe cake that says, "Welcome to Team Litt." Harvey then takes the list of replacements from Donna, goes to the bathroom, and dumps the anxiety pills into the toilet. Donna hands over two gifts to Rachel, finding out about the engagement and helping out Harvey. 

Harvey then hands Mike a wedding magazine as a gift. The two are then off to Nets game.
