Fans are raving about Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne's phenomenal performances in the beautiful film adaptation of the popular French novel/musical "Les Miserables." The duo's onscreen chemistry is so raw and heartfelt that many critics are already claiming that "Les Mis" is worthy of several Oscar bids (especially the stunning and heartbreaking performance by actress Anne Hathaway). Seyfried and Redmayne's portrayals of the endearing and tragically romantic lovebirds Cosette and Marius Pontmercy have definitely captured the attention of fans and critics alike... so here's an idea - would the duo make the perfect match to play the coveted roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' hit erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey?"
Both Seyfried and Redmayne have been mentioned in several recent "Fifty Shades" fan-favorite casting polls... but does their heartrending onscreen love performance in "Les Miserables" heat things up a bit? 27-year-old Seyfried's sweet and innocent exterior marked by a strong and independent persona makes her a worthy Anastasia Steele contender (as do those striking blue eyes... and the blonde hair can definitely be changed). As for Redmayne, the 30-year-old English actor admits he'd definitely consider taking on the role of Christian Grey...when recently asked about the popularity surrounding the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film, Redmayne tells Marie Claire:
"I know there's a huge amount of hype around it [the movie] so I definitely never say never. I've heard so much about this book I see people reading it on the tube and I'm always really impressed that they're reading it on the tube because it's kind of kinky... I'm thinking, 'What are you getting off on on the tube?' I've not read it myself."

Redmayne's rather boyish looks might not coincide with the mysterious, dominant, tall dark and handsome description of Grey... but Redmayne is an up-and-coming actor who seems to have a lot going for him. Not only are critics already insisting "Les Miserables" has major Academy Award potential, but Redmayne's portrayal of the aspiring filmmaker Colin Clark in the 2011 drama "My Week with Marilyn" had many viewers buzzing. Redmayne has also achieved a number of awards for his acting work, including the 2010 Tony Award for 'Best Featured Actor in a Play' for his performance in the West End and Broadway production of the hit drama play "Red." Taking on the racy role of Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" may just be that final boost that Redmayne needs to really launch his career - and producers may like the fact that he's still somewhat in the shadows of Hollywood (therefore not associated with any specific film or television genre). Not to mention Redmayne's a Brit, which might appeal to E.L. James herself!
