Belize-born rapper Shyne has opened up about the shooting incident at a Manhattan club, Dec. 27, 1999. Shyne has reacted to his involvement and the after math.

"People like to be revisionists; they want to go back and change what it was. The bottom line is a situation happened, a very unfortunate situation, where three people were injured," said Shyne to an interview with booska-p.com.

"One of those people tried to shoot me. You know what I'm saying? One of those people tried to shoot me. One of those people was my homegirl. A woman by the name of Tanya Ruben. She was a singer, she was from my block, she was cool. We would go to the studio together, all that, and I'm definitely sorry that she had to suffer. But there was like four guns going off that night, at least ..." he explained.

Shyne also told in the interview about the unfair practises by his co-defendant who called in witnesses who were not telling the truth. He also told that rappers like Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Max B and many others live the life they rap about.

Shyne, whose real name is Moses Michael Levi, was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with and was convicted of convicted of attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment. He got a ten year prison sentence that started June 1, 2001 and ended Oct. 6, 2009. He was later deported from U.S. to Belize. Shyne was staying at Jerusalem in 2010 as an Orthodox Jew.

Shyne was with his girlfriend Monay Hawkins and so were Diddy and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez at the Manhattan nightclub. Diddy and Shyne have reconciled since then.
