Following an onstage meltdown at the iHeartRadio music festival back in September, Green Day's popular frontman Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab to seek treatment for substance abuse. In the meantime, several Green Day concerts and appearances in promotion of the rock band's three latest albums - "Uno!" Dos!" and "Tre!" - were unfortunately cancelled. But now it looks like Armstrong has finally resurfaced and is ready to hop back on the Green Day touring bandwagon - the 40-year-old rocker recently posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram account, thanking fans for their ongoing support and annoucing that the punk-rock trio plans to hit the road again in March 2013.

Little information has been released about Armstrong's stint in rehab, but following his iHeartRadio music festival onstage meltown the band released this statement:

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."

For those fans who missed it, check out Armstrong's iHeartRadio rant here... supposedly the "American Idiot" star believed that Green Day's set was cut short in order to make more time for other big-name acts including Rihanna and Usher (from 45 minutes to 30 minutes). While flipping off the camera and smashing his guitar onstage, the badass rocker screamed this out to the festival crowd (among other expletives...): "You've gotta be f##king kidding me! You're f##king kidding me. What the f##k! I'm not f##king Justin Bieber, you mother##kers...I got one minute-one minute left."

Armstrong's latest message is a bit more sweet and sentimental... check out the note he posted on Instagram late Sunday evening (Dec. 30):

"I just wanted to thank you all for the love [and] support you've showed for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better everyday... So now, without further ado, the show must go on... We can't wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger. Happy new year. We love you all. Rage and love.

P.S. Green Day tour in March."

And Green Day fans are all for it:

ke_billiejoe: "Billie joe armSTRONG *-* billie you are the best *-* i love you, dont worry we are all with you for ever! Rage&love."

gdlover94: "You can do anything! You are my hero and heros can do anything! Happy new year see you this summer ;)"

billiejoerocks: "Thank you for all you have done for me Billie! I appreciate everything. You and Green Day have changed my life! I'm glad to hear you're getting better and I can't wait until you tour again!!!"

mother_marian: "We love you too Billie!!! You are stronger you can beat your demons. wish you all the very best on this long fight! rage and love! Never give up!! xoxox happy new year."

carpediemabattlecry: "Billie this is genuinely heartwarming, on behalf of us idiots, nimrods and international superfans, we are so, so glad you are recovering and we have been pleased to have been with you all the way <3."

While bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool were bummed that they had to cancel several performances, they fully supported Armstrong's recovery and were happy that in the meantime fans were able to at least enjoy some new Green Day music.

Reports confirm that Green Day will be rescheduling recently postponed shows and refunding ticket purchases to canceled concerts. The band has added new 2013 tour dates for the months of March and April.
