The material girl and pop icon Madonna is on the top of the list of highest-grossing world tours in 2012.

She was at the top of the list with $296.1 million. While Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band came second with their tour raking in $210.2. Next in the list was the famous former Pink Floyd bassist and singer, Roger Waters who made $186.4 million from his tour, Pollstar reported.

The combined gross of around 50 tours was $3 billion. There were 2.1 million tickets sold in both Madonna and Springsteen's tours. Though Madge is not selling as many of albums as she did in the 1980s, she has not stopped making her tour a headline catcher wherever she goes. Incidents of Madonna flashing her nipple on stage and various other antics dealing mainly with sex have made her tours successful.

Other music artists on the list included: #4. Coldplay ($171.3 million), #5. Lady Gaga ($161.4 million), #6. Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson: The Immortal" tour ($140.2 million), #8. Metallica ($86.1 million), #10. Red Hot Chili Peppers (, $57.8 million), #13. Jennifer Lopez ($52.6 million), #19. Drake ($43.4 million), #21. Radiohead ($42.5 million), #23. Justin Bieber ($40.2 million) and #27. the Black Keys ($38.1 million), MTV News reported.
