HBO's 'The Brink' Episode 2: Are Jack Black, Tim Robbins, & Aasif Mandvi Running "Half-Cocked?"

From the director of the Austin Powers movies, HBO continues with its political satire, The Brink. In Episode 2, with World War III looming over their heads, are Walter Larson (Tim Robbins) and Rafiq Massoud (Aasif Mandvi), and Alex Talbot (Jack Black) running Half-Cocked?

In our premiere recap, Alex (Black) and Rafiq (Mandvi) found themselves in the middle of a riot as a rebel army seized the Pakistani government. While President Julian Navarro (Esai Morales) is trying to prevent war, smarmy Walter Larson (Robbins) is trying to stay sober after a wild sexcapade with a high class call girl. Unfortunately, everything is spinning out of control, when a high-strung pilot is flying his jet plane while doped out of his mind.

In an interview with Vulture, the Daily Show correspondent teases Rafiq's relationship with Alex, "In Rafiq's mind, I think they both probably live in the same place. The Army coming in and arresting everyone [versus] Jack trying to make time with my sister ... I think Jack trying to make time with my sister. Ultimately, they're going to come in and they're going to arrest Jack, and even though the family might also get tied into that, Rafiq is still probably more upset that Jack wants to make time with his sister. Alex, I should say, not Jack. I'm totally okay with Jack Black making time with my real sister. That's totally fine."

In an interview with Indiewire, the Shawshank Redemption actor explains why he loved the satire, "It's a very exciting form of entertainment in that...it must be funny, but it is dealing with content and with issues that are relevant to how we are living today."

As you can see from the footage, the episode continues straight after the pilot's cliffhanger. The military has stormed in and taken over Rafiq's home. Knowing his family has an American hiding in the house, will Rafiq have to give up Alex?
