In a robot factory, naked men and women are lined up in rows, with their eyes closed. When the lights are turned off, Anita is the only one in the room moving. Anita looks up at the ceiling and looks  out into the full moon.

In the morning, Joe (Tom Goodman-Hill) is dealing with his little daughter, his teenage kids all by himself. Unfortunately, his wife Laura (Katherine Parkinson) is pretending to be elsewhere, her mind adrift in her own marital problems. Realizing he has too much to handle on his own, Joe grabs his daughter, Sophie (Pixie Davies) and takes her to a robot store.

After signing on the dotted line, Anita is unzipped and turned on. After being activated, Anita walks out of the store with Sophie and Joe. While Laura looks at the pictures of her children on her phone, her teenage son is already smitten with Anita. During her trip back, Laura is bothered by the fact all the synths are handing out flyers.

Laura is freaked out when she sees Anita standing in her living room. With the home finally clean and now that he has help, Joe refuses to send Anita back to the store. Laura and Joe are wondering though how they're going to make Anita's first payment.

Five weeks ago, somewhere out in the woods, Anita was part of a group of synths, led by Leo. While they are making camp and separate, Leo says his goodbye to Anita. Unfortunately, Leo is too late to save Anita and the others as they are suddenly kidnapped.

While Anita is at the Hawkins house, Leo is out in the streets, looking for her. After being visited by a social workers, George is hiding his outdated robot, Odi (Will Tudor). George doesn't want his update, vera (Rebecca Front). Due to his memory loss, George needs Odi to remember memories of his deceased wife.

After an incident at a supermarket, George is ordered by the authorities to recycle Odi. Unfortunately, because he is outdated, Odi cannot retrieve certain memories of George's wife One of the officers happens to jealous of his Synth, who has his hands all over his nude wife.

Leo heads out to a brother, where Niska (Emily Berrington) is working as a prostitute. Because their rescue mission failed, Leo needs her to say at brothel, the worst and safest place for her.The only way for her to escape is with a human fingerprint.

As George kisses Odi goodnight, he remembers something in the past. Laura continues to play mind games with Anita. In the news, the anchors are debating what it means to be human. Laura thinks something is wrong with Anita but Joe won't take her back. Even though he's bleeding, Leo promises not to give up on Anita because he loves her.

Something inside Anita awakens as she stares out into the window and sinks her eyes deep into the raindrops. While everyone else in the household is sleeping, Anita goes up to Sophie's room, carries the little girl in her arms, and walks straight out into the streets.
