England's Lucy Bronze reflected on her team's shortcomings before this tournament and how important this semifinal game is.

"We let ourselves down badly at the European Championships, but the best way to raise the profile of the sport and to attract more girls to play when they are young is to be successful on the pitch," Bronze said, according to the Telegraph. "That is what this World Cup has done and that is what people will remember. We're good enough to go on and win this, we genuinely believe that after the last couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, star Japanese player Iwashimizu compared this World Cup with the previous one from four years ago and how her team compares.

"Four years ago, we didn't know [what to expect] and it was an unknown world," she told FIFA.com. "This time we are here to achieve a second consecutive title and it makes us feel that the things really start from now. The two teams cannot be simply compared, but what's different is the experience of each of the players. We almost have the same players and they know about coming out on top, and I think that's how we could make our way to the semi-finals."
