It was shocking to hear country singer, dancer and two-time winner of "Dancing with the Stars" Julianne Hough opening up about the child abuse she faced. The singer was physically and mentally abused as a 10-year-old young dancer studying at the famous Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
The revelation came at an interview she gave to Entertainment Tonight recently. "I've been through certain things that have sucked the life out of me, and just the light about me was gone. I was just a dark person," said Hough, New York Daily News reported.
"I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life," said Hough who is the cover girl for February's issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.
Though she suffered from trauma as a child, she has come to put them all out and said she does not talk about it much. "I had to leave that situation and kind of come into my own again, and I did."
Hough has not let the past hold her back. She is acting in an upcoming movie "Safe Haven", where the character Katie that she plays had an abusive past.
"Being Katie, I relate a lot to her. The fact that she had been in one situation that just sucked the life out of her, and it was a bad situation, and she needed to change and move on and kind of find her own again. And through that you find love and everything," Hough explained.
