"American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson got engaged to her talent manager boyfriend Brandon Blackstock on December 14, finally debunking all of the gay rumors that have continued to swirl around the songstress for years. Even so, the 30-year-old "Breakaway" star admits in a recent Cosmopolitan interview that if she were indeed a lesbian, she'd be very lucky because she constantly gets hit on by some of the "hottest girls ever." While Clarkson is not insulted by the constant gay rumors (considering gorgeous girls flirting with her all the time is quite the compliment), the songstress admits that she's exclusively only into guys.
Clarkson appears totally unfazed by all of the homosexual gossip... although she admits it's unfair that people would spread such lies just because she was single for a long period of time. Clarkson was not involved in any romantic relationship six years prior to meeting Blackstock last February. She recently explained in the February 2013 "Love Issue" of Cosmo magazine:
"People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it, obviously. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing."
Clarkson also addressed the gay rumors back in September 2011, telling E! News, "I just think it is very ignorant to assume that you know everything about someone. People keep saying that I'm gay and ... yeah, I'm not. I'm pretty sure I've never made out with girl. Sometimes, I wish I were because at this point, I would probably get hit on by a lot of girls! It's just not helping me because I am straight. No boy wants to hit on my because I make mean songs about them and they think I'm gay."
Although straight, Clarkson is a huge gay rights advocate... which is why she voted to re-elect President Obama back in November - "I've been reading online about the debates and I'm probably going to vote for Obama again," Clarkson explained to the Daily Star about a month before the election. "I can't support Romney's policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don't think it's fair they can't get married."
In the latest issue of Cosmo, Clarkson also discusses body image, claiming that she managed to drop 18 pounds in one month! "I was working with a trainer... You'd be amazed the amount of weight you can drop by halving your portions," the pop star dishes. "I know it sounds crazy, but do it for two weeks and watch what happens. I just cut back my portions, I stopped eating late at night, and I work out a little more than I used to."
