Donald Trump Claims Golf Should Be “Elitist” & for Rich People

Folks, if you play golf and are not a wealthy man, it looks like Donald Trump might not want anything to do with you. At least, kind of. It's being reported that the new presidential candidate – who is quickly pissing off nearly everyone for his racist comments – believes that perhaps golf should be elitist and for people who have worked hard and can afford it—aka rich people.

Per a new report from Fortune, Trump spoke about the ever-changing game, claiming he's not necessarily a fan of the new innovations hitting the sport.

"I don't think it's going to help anything," he said. "Golf should be something beautiful, elegant, something people aspire to play eventually."

When asked if that was an elitist statement, Trump appeared to have no qualms about admitting it could be so.

"It may be elitist, and perhaps that's what golf needs. Let golf be elitist. When I say 'aspire,' that's a positive word. Let people work hard and aspire to some day be able to play golf. To afford to play it. They're trying to teach golf to people who will never be able to really play it. They're trying too hard."

The (former) Celebrity Apprentice host further claimed that the game should be "aspirational" rather than something teenagers are trying to play while learning other sports at the same time.

"I think it's very damaging to the game," he says.
