Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry and husband Javi Marroquin were on the verge of divorce earlier this year when major dramatic fights erupted between the two that were captured in front of MTV cameras. Now, the reality star explains what led up to the nasty confrontations.
"I think Javi and I went through a really rough patch that started right before we started filming the season," Kailyn told Us Weekly. "But ultimately we made it through."
Much of the MTV couple's fighting had to do with their stressful move to Delaware, especially having young children to look after as well.
"I just think it was trying to get on the same parenting page with [our son] Lincoln, and Lincoln was probably only 6 months old [at the time]," the Love & Lowry designer said. "And I think it was easier for me to make friends in Delaware, because I would go to my breastfeeding support group, CrossFit, stuff like that. And for him, he's at work all day. So I think that's, it really was taking a toll on him at that time."
The defining moment in their marriage came when Javi's mother and sister confronted the reality dad by putting some sense into him regarding his relationship with Kail.
"There was a point where I was like, 'You're going to go to work one day and me and the kids are going to be gone,'" she told the gossip mag. "But I think there was a turning point when his mom and his sister sat him down, and they sat him down and they were just like, 'This is what it is. We're surprised that she hasn't left you,' kind of deal. So when I came home one day, he was just completely different and I was like, this is really weird. Like I don't know how one conversation could change it. And he was like, 'My mom and my sister put it in perspective for me. You're not being crazy.' So I was kind of happy that he acknowledged it. I mean, it obviously takes two, I was a part of it. But there was a point where I think he was contributing more to the arguing."
As MStars News reported, Javi recently posted a pictured on Instagram, while also explaining the struggles he and his wife went through.
"You guys are really gonna see a different side of us this season that I'm not looking forward to," the Air Force member captioned the photo. "There was a point in our marriage that was extremely difficult. Makes me emotional to think about how we were. I'm not gonna give too much away, but just want yall to know it's worth it to keep fighting. Seriously. Ps it's behind us babe. We made it."
