Heavy metal band Metallica's fans have been waiting for any news on the band's first 3D concert movie. The band has been developing the movie since 2012. The footages for the movie were captured in the summer of 2012. Lars Ulrich, the band's drummer has finally open up without revealing too much of the details.

Ulrich has confessed that it was legendary rock band Led Zepplin's 1976 movie "The Song Remains the Same" that was the source of inspiration for the their movie, Loudwire reported.

"There are four members in Led Zeppelin, four members in Metallica, it's a full-length movie, and there's a lot in this film that does not take place onstage. The major difference is that the stuff that takes place offstage in the Metallica movie does not feature any members of Metallica. It's two separate worlds - a Metallica show and a story that unfolds in a parallel universe - and at some point they intertwine," said the popular drummer in an interview with Classic Rock Magazine.

Metallica's venture into movies is being directed by Nimrod Antal.  The footage used in the movie was filmed during their performance in Vancouver, Canada, August 2012. The movie is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2013.

Ulrich also stated that there might be the chances of producer Rick Rubin, who had produced their last album, 2008's "Death Magnetic" working on the upcoming album.

"I love Rick. We all love Rick. We're in touch with Rick constantly. We'll see where it goes. It would stun me if the record came out in 2013. We've got to finish this 3D movie, which is what we're doing right now."

The 49-year-old drummer also shared that their upcoming tenth studio album will begin from where "Death Magnetic" stopped.
