Jeff Goldblum, Wife Emilie Livingston Have Baby Boy on Independence Day!

Actor Jeff Goldblum of Jurassic Park and Independence Day and his wife, Emilie Livingston, announced on Facebook the birth of their son, Charles Ocean Goldblum. Goldblum said on social media, "We're so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day." Now that is some pretty good timing! The couple got married back in November of 2014 and by January, Goldblum announced on The Late Show With David Letterman that Livingston was pregnant. Goldblum and Livingston had been dating for a couple of years and although this is his third marriage and Goldblum is 62 and counting, this is his first experience with fatherhood. He even previously discussed the subject on Larry King Now before his son's birth and King replied on the subject of becoming a father later in life, "Nothing beats fatherhood."

Coincidentally, Goldblum is in the midst of filming a sequel to the popular Independence Day movie from years ago,entitled Independence Day: Resurgence. The film follows some of the main characters from the previous film in the future where all of the nations on Earth must join together to protect the planet using a special defense program. When the aliens threaten, it's up to a select few men and women to have the courage and the strength to fight back.

Director Roland Emmerich was more than happy to answer serious questions about the film prior to its release. One of the big questions was when the film would take place. Would it happen right after the events in the first film or some time in the future? Emmerich answered anxious fans by saying it is a bit both. "The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back," the filmmaker said. "And they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that's 20 or 25 years."

Happy emergence into fatherhood to Goldblum and an enthusiastic cheer to the impending release of Independence Day: Resurgence. The movie will hit theaters June 24th 2016 so check out a first look at the film!
