You would think that teenage boys enjoy everything that involves Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton, but a new study surveying this demographic of males suggests we keep her away from the video game industry. According to this report, which coincides with the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, teenage boys are looking for gameplay with more female heroes and characters, but don't want to objectify them. In other words, Kate Upton's cleavage isn't helping gamers get into the free-to-play mobile game Game of War. Read more on this news below!

We can tell that the use of Upton and her formfitting outfits in the advertisements for Game of War clearly had a male audience in mind, but according to this new study from Time Magazine, it's having a negative effect on the target demographic.

This study surveyed 1,400 teenage kids of both genders in high school and middle school, which came up with some great results.

According to the study, 47 percent of middle school boys and 61 percent of teenage boys weren't pleased with the objectification of females in the gaming world.

"If women are objectified like this it defeats the entire purpose of fighting," an eighth grader named Theo said. "I would respect the [female] character more for having some dignity."

Plus, it turns out the majority of young gamers don't care about the gender of the main protagonist in video games (via Gamma Squad)!

That's pretty great, but the study also revealed something that gaming studios need to pay attention to: girls play video games, and a variety of genres, too!
