At UFC 189 Conor McGregor defeated Chad Mendes for the interim Featherweight Championship and the No. 2 contender, Frankie Edgar, apparently had a front row seat to it. Edgar, the former lightweight champion, was passed over to face McGregor in the fight and now he wants his chance. According to Edgar, he moves better in the ring than Mendes and because of this he is absolutely worthy of getting one more swing at the title.

"I move a little more than Chad," Edgar said in an interview. "I think my takedowns are there, like his. I feel like I've got good ground and pound. I don't really slow down too much."

In the interview, Edgar also broke down the fight. He lauded McGregor for taking the fight on such short notice and was a little surprised the fight went the way it did because it started by going "Mendes' way."

"I think it was going [Mendes'] way," Edgar said. "He was able to get takedowns. Credit to Conor, he was able to stay composed and get back to his feet. Chad seemed to slow down, get tired. Taking a fight on short notice like that and Conor capitalized."

If Edgar wants to get a shot at the champ he'll have to wait in line. Right now, Jose Aldo is the number one contender and Aldo is nursing a rib injury. Edgar says that while Aldo is out, he should have his shot first.

"Actually, I went up to the cage and told Conor 'Congrats' and that, why don't me and him do it before Aldo," Edgar continued. "Who knows how long Aldo's going to take. Let me and him figure this out."

Do you think Frankie Edgar deserves a shot at the champion before Jose Aldo recovers?

 We did it :-)
