Upcoming Chicago rapper Johnny Boy Da Prince was shot and killed in a case of mistaken identity, Jan. 10, HipHopDX reported.
The Chicago rapper was reportedly shot numerous times. He was found lying in an alley in Garfield Park neighborhood.
Might seem ironic but Prince had reportedly finished recording a song titled "Just like You" that dealt with the topic of senseless killings. Prince's manager, Dillard Florence had told that his death was due to "mistaken identity." The manager also added that the young rapper went into surgery but his injuries were "too extensive" and he succumbed to his injuries.
In a tragic turn of events, Prince was to have a scheduled meeting with major record label company Atlantic Records.
"I see a lot of emails. I listened to it, I liked what I heard, I asked for more. I played it at a meeting and everyone liked it. We were working on a meeting, bringing him in. Get him to meet everyone before a decision is made," Andrew Fechter, an assistant at Atlantic who called Prince a "prospect."
There has been a spate of violent killings in Chicago recently. Rappers Lil JoJo, JayLoud and Chief Keef's stepbrother were all shot dead recently.
Record label companies Epic and Universal were also reportedly interested in the young rapper.
