'Sleepy Hollow' Season 3 Spoilers: Nikki Reed Cast as American Icon

Nikki Reed is going Revolutionary ... War, that is. The Twilight beauty is trading in her fangs for a powdered wig and pantyhose, as it has just been revealed that she is about to board the Fox series Sleepy Hollow. While the starlet has been featured on other TV series in the past, including The OC, it seems like for this role she will be sticking around for a little bit. Reed just got cast as a series regular for the show's third season where she will be playing one of the most beloved women in America's history, Betsy Ross. Ian Somerhalder's wife will make her debut this fall when the show returns from hiatus.

According to E! News, while the role is an amazing opportunity for the actress, it wasn't just the show's supernatural theme that won the star over. In fact, it might have been the location that ultimately had her ready to sign on the dotted line. The production moved the series from Wilmington, North Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia, which is where her husband's series, The Vampire Diaries, films.

The Hollywood Reporter also posted about the casting news, and creator Len Wiseman revealed in a statement that he was happy to have Reed join the show.

"We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow," Wiseman explained. "Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross."

Fans will get to see Reed interact with star Tom Mison, who plays Ichabod, as they will remember him talking about having dated Ms. Ross in the past.
