Reports confirm that professional wrestler Hulk Hogan recently filed a lawsuit in Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court, seeking a whopping $50 million in damages from the Laser Spine Institute in Florida. According to the 59-year-old Hall of Famer, doctors at the prestigious institute duped him into undergoing several "bogus and useless" procedures that ultimately ended up damaging his career and further worsening his health.
According to the lawsuit, Hogan sought treatment at the LSI for multiple lumbar spinal abnormalities (including scoliosis and multiple bulging discs) back in 2009. The VH1 reality star insists that doctors then coaxed him into undergoing several unnecessary laser surgeries on his back... such "medical advice" turned out to be a waste of time, money, and health. Hogan claims that such treatments only worsened his condition... he blames LSI for not advising him that laser treatment is only a temporary solution, not a permanent one. Hogan eventually turned to a different institution with a new team of doctors - he had to start from scratch and undergo major back surgery, which ultimately fixed the problem.
Now, Hogan is seeking $50 million in damages - he claims that LSI shouldn't only pay for its mess up and deception, but also wages that the Hulk missed out on earning while in constant treatment and recovery. Because of LSI, Hogan had to skip out on numerous employment opportunities in the entertainment world that would have racked in millions of dollars. Not only that, but LSI supposedly used Hogan's name and image to promote their business without his permission.
While the LSI recently released a statement saying the Institute has "acknowledged" Hogan's lawsuit, it also stated, "To protect patient privacy as well as the legal process, we do not discuss the details of litigation matters."
