'Manhattan' Season 2: Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Chernus' Premiere Date & 2015 Emmy Nomination!

WGN America has announced the official premiere date for Season 2 of Manhattan. Not only will Rachel Brosnahan (Abby Isaacs) and Michael Chernus (Louis 'Fritz' Fedowitz) be back, the bold new drama has also be nominated for the 2015 Emmy Awards.

As we previously mentioned, Manhattan is set against the turbulent backdrop of the mission to build the world's first atomic bomb, The first season followed the brilliant but flawed scientists and their families. Each member tried to coexist in a world, but their secrets and lies had a way of infiltrating every aspect of their lives.

According to Deadline, the second season will focus on the events leading up to Trinity test. This is the first detonation of an atomic weapon, which happened 70 years ago. According to the plot synopsis, while Charlie Isaacs (Ashley Zukerman) and Abby (Brosnahan) embraces and struggles with their unexpected new power on the Hill, physicist Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey), doesn't know how his A-bomb should be used. Meanwhile, Frank's botanist wife (Olivia Williams) battles with the top-secret compound's new commanding officer (William Petersen).

The site also mentions, the Academy of Television Arts anhas honored the drama with its first Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design. This also marks the first Emmy nomination ever received for original programming on WGN America.

In his statement, creator Sam Shaw describes the feeling of being nominated, "Tommy and I are so thrilled that the Academy has recognized our friends at Imaginary Forces for their brilliant work on 'Manhattan's' main title. Dan Gregoras, Jeremy Cox, Jon Hassell and their team somehow managed to pack all the fear, hope and strangeness of the atomic age into 30 seconds. The design captures the scope and spirit of our show beautifully."

We also mentioned, the bonus materials for the Season One DVD/Blu-Ray features behind-the-scenes from the set, fashion, history and "making of" material.

Season 2 of Manhattan will premiere on WGN America Tuesday, October 13, at 9 PM. Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will host the Emmy Awards on September 20, 2015.
