For years NBA players have said they are better suited to pick league MVP and other player awards. It was because of this that the players put together the NBPA first annual Players Awards. According to several players around the league, the real MVP wasn't Steph Curry; instead, it was James Harden. While Curry finished with 262 voting points ahead of Harden, the latter had the better year by far. Harden finished ahead of Curry in points and rebounds per game.

It seems the Player Awards may have gotten their inception more than five months ago. It was during the All-Star Weekend when Kevin Durant said it should be the players who pick. According to him, the media "really don't know sh*t."

"Yeah, I think media and guys get too much power to vote on stuff that, quite frankly, I don't think you really know a lot about as much as we know about it," Durant ranted. "So, yeah, we play against these guys every single night. We battle against these guys. We know what they say on the court. We know how they handle their teammates. We know how they approach the game. And our vote should count. Our opinions should count. Like I said, I don't think you guys know as much as we do, and I don't see why you have more power than we do."

Other winners that night was San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who won Coach You Most Want To Play For, Kawhi Leonard, who won Best Defender, Chris Paul, who won the Oscar Robertson Visionary Award, and Allen Iverson, who won the Gamechanger award.

Do you think it should be the players who choose who becomes the League MVP?
