The Season 2 of The Strain continues on FX. Based on Guillermo Del Toro's bestselling novels, published by Dark Horse Comics, in Episode 3, are Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) ready to fight The Master at Fort Defiance?

During the night, Gabriel Bolivar (Jack Kesy) is spotted by police while he is dragging The Master's dirt in a bag. After being interrogated by the two police officers, Gabriel opens his mouth and calls for the rest of the vampire horde. Gabriel and the rest of his horde feed on the police officers as they cry out for help.

Vaughan watches Gus (Miguel Gomez) as he trains himself fighting against the vamps. He manages to defeat one of the bloodsuckers by ripping the stinger out of his throat. Vaughan wants Gus to be ready because they are going to kidnap Eldritch Palmer.

Palmer's former aide, Reggie Fitzwilliam (Roger Cross) is still alive as he makes his way to Staten Island. During Reggie's reunion with his brother, Councilwoman Justine Feraldo (Samantha Mathis) promises to make Staten Island a vampire-free zone. She then reveals dead vampires hanging from their wall as a statement.

Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel) pays a visit to Eldritch Palmer (Jonathan Hyde). Because of his confrontation with Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley), he wants Gabriel Bolivar to be around him. Unfortunately, having Gabriel around frightens his assistant to the core.

Elsewhere, Abraham has chopped off a vampire's head and steals the bloodsucker's parasitic worms. Abraham cooks the worms back at the hideout until they are in liquid form. He then injects the bloody liquid in his eye, causing him to faint.

After Nora finds Abraham on the flood and with his eye bleeding, she manages to revive him back to life. Abraham reveals that he is 94 years old and his heart is still pumping because he uses the worms to continue his life. He will continue to use the worms and extend his life tunnel his fight with The Master is over.

With the bratty Zach (Max Charles) missing, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand) and Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) join Eph as they search for him. Though Zach doesn't get too far, Dutch discovers her friend, Nikki, is missing as well. Though Eph and Nora try to explain vampirism to Zach, he starts to throw a tantrum in the lab, knocking things down.

Eph tries to shake some sense into his kid by shoving Zach close to their trapped vampire. Only then does he understand what his mother has become. Eph tells his trapped vampire, speaking to The Master, he will kill Zach before he would let his son become one of them.

Dutch gets in contact with her friend's mother, but she's not to happy to see her. The mother believes Dutch managed to ruin her daughter's life. Offended and needing comfort, she then goes down on Vasiliy.

Gus manages to sneak inside the building run by Palmer. While Gus distracts the security guard, Vaughan and the other vampire vampire hunters hitch a ride on the elevator. At the control room, security realizes something is up, forcing Palmer and his assistant to evacuate the room.

When Gus and the others arrive, they don't see Palmer anywhere in the room. That's when Palmer turns on the UV lights, setting up the ambush. As the UV lights start to light the vampire vampire hunters on fire, Gus offers to save Vaughan.

Because Vaughan sacrifices himself, Gus makes a run for it and manages to escape. Elsewhere, Eph and Nora think they have a a disease to hurt the vampire strain.
