From the director of the Austin Powers movies, HBO continues with its political satire, The Brink. In the renewed Season 2 of The Brink, with World War III looming over their heads, are Walter Larson (Tim Robbins) and Rafiq Massoud (Aasif Mandvi), and Alex Talbot (Jack Black) still around to save the day?

In our premiere recap, Alex (Black) and Rafiq (Mandvi) found themselves in the middle of a riot as a rebel army seized the Pakistani government. While President Julian Navarro (Esai Morales) is trying to prevent war, smarmy Walter Larson (Robbins) is trying to stay sober after a wild sexcapade with a high class call girl. Unfortunately, everything is spinning out of control, when a high-strung pilot is flying his jet plane while doped out of his mind.

In our recent recap, Zeke Tilson (Pablo Schreiber) and his co-pilot ended up stranded somewhere after their fighter jet was hit and crashed. Alex helped Rafiq's sister and her students reach the American embassy, even though he had run out of favors. Unfortunately, even though his negotiations were going so well, Larson realized he was just being used for his money.

According to Deadline, the cable network has granted a second-season order to the freshman comedy. The renewal just comes a day before the options on the cast were supposedly set to expire. The pickup of the show also comes two weeks after the death of the series' executive producer Jerry Weintraub (Ocean's Eleven franchise) at age 77.

In Sunday's all-new episode, help might come for Larson from the least expected place, his cheating wife (Carla Gugino) in Tel Aviv, and angles to use her new position to his advantage. While held hostage, Zeke and Glenn have to find a way escape their captors. Alex meets with Kittredge (John Larroquette), who shares a revelatory dream.

The Brink continues on HBO Sundays at 10:30pm.
