Joe Jackson Hospitalized in Brazil Following a Stroke on his 87th Birthday

MStars News has learned that the father of the late Michael Jackson and singer Janet Jackson, Joe "Joseph" Jackson has been hospitalized after allegedly suffering from a stroke during his 87th birthday in Sao Paulo, Brazil over the weekend.

According to TMZ, Jackson was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital after feeling dizzy and losing his vision. He is currently undergoing some tests. The infamous gossip site claims that Jackson may be "temporarily blind."

USA Today reveals that Jackson is in the intensive care unit after suffering from an irregular heartbeat, according to a statement.

A family statement on his website thanked everyone for their support and prayers. That statement read:

"To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times. Through God's intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support."

Before he was hospitalized, Joe did share a few photos from his trip in Brazil via Twitter, as his daughter Janet wished her dad a Happy Birthday, too.

According to Us Magazine, this isn't the first time Joe has suffered a stroke. The entertainment site claims that Joe has reportedly suffered three strokes in the past.

One stroke happened back in November 2012, after he complained of having pains in his head and had difficulty standing. At that time, Joe was put under observation at a Las Vegas hospital.

The head of the Jackson klan, Joe, the founder of The Jackson 5, which led to Michael Jackson's solo success, is the father of 11 children. They include Maureen, 65; Sigmund, 64; Tito, 61; Jermaine, 60; La Toya, 59; Marlon, 58; Brandon, stillborn; Michael, who died tragically in 2009 at the age of 50, Randy, 53; Janet, 49; and Joh'Vonnie, 40. He's been married to Katherine Jackson, 85, since 1949, despite having an affair and other marital issues.

Hopefully Joe Jackson can pull through this stroke with a full recovery.
