Kardashian’s Fake 911 Call; Reality Show Family Falls Victim to Swatting Prank

The Kardashian family became the latest victims in a string of swatting pranks planted on famous celebrities in the Los Angeles, Calif., area.

Police showed up at the Kardashian's former Malibu residence on Jan, 18, to deal with a supposed emergency after receiving a 911 call from a person believed to be a member of family.

However, police arrived at the home to find the place empty. The family was contacted and officers then traveled 20 miles away to investigate the reality show family's current home in Hidden Hills.

Bruce, Kris, Kylie, and Kendall Jenner were all ordered out of the house for a search. No arrests were made as they found no crime had been committed.

"Swatting" is a hoax in which a prankster calls police with a false emergency in order to get authorities to come out to a residence with a specialized SWAT team. After hearing of the prank, Kim Kardashian, who was not at the family's home during the incident, took to Twitter to voice her anger with the situation.

"These pranks are NOT funny! People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out who is behind this. It's dangerous and not a joke!" she wrote.

Following a round of similar incidents, Los Angeles County Sherriff spokesperson Steve Whitmore will lobby lawmakers to make swatting a felony.

"What we want to do is have the legislature turn up the heat on these people," he said. "This is a serious, serious crime."

In December 2012, a 12-year-old boy was arrested in California for pulling a similar swatting prank on a number of celebrities, including Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher. The pre-teen allegedly resides with his mother in Southern California in an unstable home. Police are currently trying to remove the boy from his mother's care, according to TMZ.
