With the epic finale of the best-selling Fables series, from Vertigo Comics (DC Entertainment), this is the perfect opportunity to look back on the award-winning comic.  From the minds of writer Bill Willingham and artist Mark Buckingham, readers have much to celebrate about the emotionally gripping final issue, Fables Vol. 22: Farewell (#150).

According to the official Vertigo website, Fables came from the various children's tales and popular folklore we knew before. Various characters, such as the Big Bad Wolf and Snow White, were forced out of their homeland and exiled to a small community in New York.  While some could live alongside human society in Fabletown, those who could not blend in were kept at The Farm somewhere upstate in the Big Apple.

We have 5 reasons why you should pick up Fables #150, the final issue:

5) Everything Comes full Circle

The first volume consisted of a murder mystery, which followed Sheriff Bigby Wolf as he attempted to find out who killed Rose Red. But along the way, he found himself enamored with the hard-as-nails Snow White. After breaking down their tough exteriors, they ended up together and had seven children together. Now we have one last romantic tale to tell before the last page.

4) At Its Prime

During its initial run, we had our protagonists taking up the fight against the Big Bad known as The Adversary. This storyline though only takes place over 75 issues. Each story found a way to close its close its chapter and end its arc. How many times were you disappointed when your favorite TV show dragged and overstayed its welcome (cough Heroes cough)? That doesn't happen here and Fables closes the way it wants to, at its prime.

3) The Artwork

Not only is Buckingham involved in the art department, so is Steve Leialoha (Spider-Woman), plus Mark Schultz (Alien Versus Predator Versus The Terminator), Gene Ha (Global Frequency), Neal Adams (The Green Lanter/Green Arrow Collection), and Andrew Pepoy (Sonic The Hedgehog). Each artist puts their signature style in an unforgettable story.

2) Farewell

In an interview with Paste Magazine, Willingham explains the title of the finale, "The problem is that the longer you sit on stories, the staler they become, so with Mark I began asking, 'Is there any way we can have our cake and eat it too, to tell the last story but then continue on?' And I think it worked out pretty well. As I explained to the fans then, Fables ends all the time. It's not a story so much as a setting where lots of events take place."

1) And Thanks

If you have been there since the beginning, you have to be there for the end. This is a way of saying thank you to the comic book creators for their dedication and hard work for coming up with memorable stores and fantastic imagery.

Fables #150 is out in stores now.
