Following in the tradition of Drake, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea and 5 Seconds of Summer on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bill Nye the Science Guy recorded a video of himself reading mean tweets written about him. He's doing it to support the Kickstarter campaign for a potential documentary about his life.  Although he didn't create the Kickstarter campaign or documentary about himself project, Nye is trying to promote the idea.

Nye's mean tweets are a little different from those about other celebrities. The tweets written about him tend to focus on the science he promotes and his outspoken positions on climate change and evolution (both of which he says are true and very much happening).

"You pretend the global warming fairy is real even as you live in a mansion. Maybe do cartwheels for voodoo," one tweet read.

"I'm not sure where that comes from," Nye reacted calmly.

As he has in the past, Nye stood firmly in his positions on these topics in the face of tweets attacking him.

"I'm sorry you're cluttering up the Internet," Nye told one tweeter.

Nye did apologize to one Twitter user.

"Bill Nye wrote a book called Undeniable and I will forever hate him because he did not name it UndeNYEable," the mean tweet read.

"Hey, person!" Nye responded. "Sorry."

Nye worked for years as a television scientist, teaching simple science topics to younger audiences and making appearances in science classrooms across the nation.

A pair of filmmakers want to make a documentary about Nye's career and what he's working to do with his fame now. They started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the film. As of Saturday afternoon, it had earned over $400,000 of its $650,000 goal.

Nye has been particularly outspoken on climate change and evolution recently. In May, Nye said that climate change is "not something you should be debating or denying." Nye is a notable science debater, often falling into mean comebacks himself to people who disagree with the science he teaches. Last year, he participated in a debate about evolution, arguing against creationist Ken Ham.

In July of this year, Nye made a video where he stated that homosexuality happens in nature and "exists across species."
