50 Shades of Grey Movie Casting News UPDATE: James Deen as Christian Grey? Adult Film Star 'Could Have Fun With' Kinky Role [POLL]

Adult film star James Deen admits that he's intrigued by the role of Christian Grey in E.L. James' hit erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" - in fact, the 26-year-old porn aficionado claims that he'd probably have a lot of fun experimenting with the kinky part. And just like that, the shameless young man who has starred in several porn flicks including "Fu##enstein" and "The Truth About O" enters the heated Christian Grey casting race.

Deen (who gained wide attention in the porn industry due to his lack of resemblance to stereotypical adult film male actors) recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he'd love to audition for the steamy role of Grey. Still, the "Best Onscreen Chemistry (in a porno flick)" winner understands that he's up against some tough competition:

"It seems like a character I could have a lot of fun with. I've heard really mixed responses about it, like, 'Oh, it's a cheesy Twilight wannabe.'... [but] I think it could be fun. I feel like it could be a really cool, fun role to work on. [But] I'm that porn guy. As I understand, the rumors [for Christian] are some guy who's on a TV show on USA [Matt Bomer], some model dudes, and Ryan Gosling. I feel like me versus Ryan Gosling? There's an easy decision on where the studio is going to go. But if I got offered the role, I would definitely consider it. If they wanted me to audition, I would absolutely go in and read for them."

(Fun fact - a fan once described Deen as the "Ryan Gosling of porn).

But Deen does present a very good point. He doesn't exactly fit the overall description of Grey as James so vividly portrays him (the California native is just a tad bit too short and scrawny, and maybe even too overly-raunchy). And yes, "Fifty Shades" is a story which focuses on erotic, kinky sex... but that doesn't mean fans actually want to see a well-known porn star getting down and dirty with Anastasia Steele up on the big screen. That might ruin the whole effect.

Not to mention that Deen stars in the new erotic thriller neo-noir film "The Canyons" (alongside Hollywood troublemaker Lindsay Lohan). Not really a big deal... other than the fact that the movie was written by controversial screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis, who once went on a Twitter rant insisting fan-favorite Matt Bomer shouldn't be cast as Grey because he's gay. Ellis went so far as to suggest Deen was already being considered for the role, so Bomer should forget it (which is untrue, James hasn't even thought about final casting decisions yet). In the end, what do fans think? Does Deen's thorough experience and comfort with onscreen sex and nudity (his name has appeared in over 4,000 porno credits since the age of 18) make him a perfect Christian Grey match? Or does he totally not fit the bill as Steele's intimate bedtime partner?
