Fear The Walking Dead does not debut until August 23, but the topic of Season 2 is already out there in the ether.

First, we learned that the full-on zombie apocalypse would not start until Season 2. Now we know even more after AMC President Charlie Collier spoke to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour late last week.

Collier confirmed that the second season could have up to 15 episodes, which would be more than double the number of episodes in Season 1.

Meanwhile, showrunner David Erickson spoke to TVLine and discussed the intentionally slow pace to the beginning of the show. "We purposely built the show a bit more slowly than the original,” he said. “We call them ‘infected’ and not ‘walkers.’ There’s absolutely going to be walkers, [but] there will be a build."

Erickson also said that the show initially focuses on the "anxiety and paranoia and tension" during the early days of the outbreak, but it will build to the major outbreak in Season 2. "By the end of Season 1, we definitely know the world has changed,” he said. “It is the end of the world as we know it.”

Oh, and those of you with hopes of a crossover should put that thought out of your mind for the time being. "There’s no crossover plans right now," Erickson said. "We’re telling parallel narratives that live under the same mythological umbrella…but there’s no intention of having Easter eggs or character references."

"Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead," said Robert Kirkman in a press release. "A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We're going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up."

"I could not be more thrilled to be continuing on this apocalyptic journey, dramatizing the horrific disintegration of society through the lens of a dysfunctional family. We've assembled a stellar cast and crew to tell our story -- it's going to be a great ride," added David Erickson.
