Denis Leary IFC Series ‘Benders’ Teaser [TRAILER] Released

Comedian Denis Leary might be playing an aging musician on FX's Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll but his newly produced IFC series Benders is the one grabbing the headlines today. The IFC series' teaser trailer was just released, and unlike Leary's aforementioned FX show, this one could have some legs.

Beginning October 1, Benders will kick off its eight-episode season on IFC. The show stars the likes of Mark Gessner, Andrew Schulz, Lindsey Broad and Ruy Iskandar and focuses on "several friends bonded by an irrational obsession for their beer-swilling amateur hocking league," according to Splitsider.

Following word about the series spreading online, IFC's senior VP Christine Lubrano stated that adding this series is an attempt to further expand their "slightly off" brand of comedy.

Benders follows a team of friends bonded by an irrational obsession with their men's ice hockey team, The Chubbys. Paul Rosenberg (Schulz) is the insecure leader whose involvement with the team causes daily havoc for him and his wife Karen (Broad). Along for the ride are Paul's best friends Anthony (Distefano), the charmer who schemes his way through life; Dicky (Gessner), the wealthy hedge fund manager whose answer to everything is in his wallet; and Sebalos (Iskandar), the slacker on a misguided search for his purpose in life.

While their hockey skills may be limited, their passion is not, as evidenced by the chaos their devotion to the game creates in their everyday lives.

Benders airs on IFC this coming Oct. 1 at 10 p.m.

Denis Leary recently stopped by the Daily Show to say farewell to his longtime friend, former host Jon Stewart. The comedian was one of the final guests of Stewart's series, rounded out by comedians Louis C.K. and Amy Schumer.
