Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and their fashion empire, Dualstar, are being taken to court over the matter of not paying previous interns at the company. Perhaps the recent Fuller House rumors are sounding a lot better to the former actresses?

Page 6 was one of the first to report this news and says, "The class-action suit, which alleges wage theft, says the 29-year-old celebs failed to pay about 40 past and present interns who have worked for them. The lead plaintiff in the Manhattan Supreme Court case is former design intern Shahista Lalani, who says she was treated poorly, toiling for free doing menial tasks at the twins' Dualstar Entertainment Group in 2012." This is a tough call and interns should know what they are getting into when they start at a company understanding that they are going to be working without pay. However, how far can that go? When is it unfair or illegal?

The previous intern, Lalani speculates that it wasn't just the lack of pay but the treatment that she received from the head technical designer at Dualstar. "'She was very demanding,' Lalani recalled. 'I was doing the work of three interns. I was talking to her all day, all night. Emails at nighttime for the next day, like 10 p.m. at night,'" Page 6 reports. Lalani clearly is trying to say that she was emotionally exhausted and a bit abused by how much responsibility she had as an intern and still not getting paid. In fact, she is even claiming that she isn't the only one, that the Olsen twins' company also didn't pay 40 other interns who were doing the same type of exhausting work she was.

Dualstar came back with a statement that seems confident in that the company didn't do anything wrong and that they will be happy to prove it in court, but not to the media at this time. AceShowbiz says, "The allegations in the complaint filed against Dualstar are groundless, and Dualstar will vigorously defend itself against plaintiff's claims in court, not before the media...Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety." The company also told People, "As an initial matter, Dualstar is an organization that is committed to treating all individuals fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws." We will just have to see how everything in court goes and what evidence is presented in each case. Agreeing to work for a large company like that without pay is a risk and it will be interesting to see what the official agreement Lalani and other interns had with Dualstar.
