With the first season cliffhanger leaving audiences hanging, the CW network has announced a new DC Comics baddie for Season 2 of The Flash. Will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) end up in a race to the finish line as he has a face-to-face confrontation with the super villain, Doctor Light?

In our first season recap, Barry Allen as he awake from his coma, after being struck by lightning. Given super-speed powers, Barry belonged to small group of friends, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who know his secret identity. They worked together against super villains, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and teaming with the Arrow (Stephen Amell). But they never realized their true enemy was lurking within them, the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh).

According to TV Line, "Arrow addicts may recall Cisco and Caitlin making mention of ex-S.T.A.R. Labs employee Doctor Light when they first appeared in Season 2's "The Man Under the Hood." Turns out, that was some stealthy foreshadowing. Stanton tells us that the metahuman will turn up this season on The Flash - but 'it's going to be the female version' of the character."

In the DC Universe, the Justice League's long-time enemy was seen as an in-joke for incompetent super villains before coming a serious menace. In Identity Crisis, Doctor Light's memories were wiped over after he had violated Sue Dibny, the wife of The Elongated Man. After becoming a laughing stock by both heroes and villains, Doctor Light swore revenge after his memories suddenly returned.

The gender change will be much like how they changed Bug-Eyed Bandit's Bertram Larvan to Brie Larvan (played By Emily Kinney). In the comics, Kimiyo Hoshi has taken the name of Docotr Light but she hasn't been seen in the New 52 Universe after Flashpoint.

As we previously mentioned, CW has released its first look at Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) in action and in costume. The artwork pays tribute to the iconic cover of The Flash of Both Worlds! The plot of the crossover issue introduced Earth-2, which looks like will be explored in the superhero drama.

Season One ofThe Flash arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray September 22, 2015. The Flash returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, October. 6, at 8/7c.
